IEA Kenya to Hold a Public Forum on Cryptocurrencies in Kenya

The Institute of Economic Affairs, Kenya (IEA-Kenya) is a think-tank that provides a platform for informed discussions in order to influence public policy in Kenya.

In the recent past, the financial sector has realized growth buoyed by developments and dynamics in technology. Cryptocurrencies which are gaining traction in ordinary business transactions, the regulatory environment notwithstanding, is one such technology.  Noting the importance and growth of these digital currencies, it is important to examine what these developments portend for Kenya.

In this regard, the IEA-Kenya will host a public forum seeking to examine the regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies in Kenya, the opportunities for the financial sector in Kenya, and opportunities for consumers from the use of cryptocurrencies.

The Public forum will be held on Thursday, 6th September 2018, at Sarova Stanley Hotel from 8.00 am to 11 am.
