When we first told the story of Betty Wambugu and her restaurant, Betty’s Place, which accepts Bitcoin in Nyeri, a town approximately 150KM West of the Capital City, Nairobi, Kenya, many were excited and curious about the story.

In time, Betty’s Place has now become synonymous with Bitcoin and her story continues to make waves across the globe.

Just recently, the story was picked up by BBC, one of the most popular media outlets globally. Soon enough, the story also got picked up by Cointelegraph, one of the largest crypto and blockchain media outlets globally.

She told BBC:

“I’ve set aside one day where I can teach my customers. Whoever asks about crypto-currencies: ‘How does it work? What is Bitcoin?’ I train them.”
