The founder and CEO of BitPesa, Elizabeth Rossiello, has been appointed by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to co-chair the Global Blockchain Council.

The appointment and new role was announced during the WEF Annual Meeting 2019 in Davos, Switzerland, this week. Rossiello will be working with industry experts and a global list of 30 members that include regulatory agency heads, CEOs, and representatives in the tech space.

According to Sheila Warren, Head of Blockchain at the WEF, Rossiello’s appointment was based “not only on her diverse background in this space, from technical expertise as well as regulatory, but also for her ability to bring together members of this often fragmented ecosystem.”

The WEF council was established in 2017 “to shape a global technological policy and corporate governance agenda” in the cybersecurity and the Fourth Industrial Revolution fields.
