The Kenya Blockchain Taskforce has strongly pushed for sandboxes and consulted with all the regulators in regards to blockchain, according to Michael Onyango, a member of the taskforce.
Speaking during the Blockchain for Business Event at Strathmore University, Onyango mentioned the taskforce was looking at taking along everybody in the process hence the reason to engage with the various regulators and stakeholders.
“We engaged with CBK, KRA, and CMA […] we wanted to carry everybody onboard throughout our discussion. One of the things we strongly pushed for was the creation of sandboxes.” Said Onyango.
He said the taskforce was committed to ensuring innovation continues to grow and thrive and was would only be necessary if regulators were involved.
In line with the above, CMA Kenya has already implemented a sandbox that enables blockchain businesses to test our their ideas and projects before moving to market.
