House Africa Wins Best African Blockchain Startup at the 2019 AfricArena Conference – Blockchain Fantom Challenge

House Africa, a Nigerian blockchain-based startup, has won the Fantom Foundation Challenge 2019 at the AfricArena Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The 3 blockchain startups that were shortlisted for the challenge included:

  • Lightency – Tunisia
  • Chikkit – Nigeria
  • House Africa – Nigeria

The event is a culmination of the AfricArena Tour challenge which took place throughout 2019. The cities where selections took place included:

The selection process included startups pitching by uploading their pitch and 3-min video and getting to pitch at home in front of an international panel of judges. The three winning pitches were then shortlisted for the final pitch round in Cape Town, South Africa.

Some of the submission requirements for the winning startups included:

  • Have an existing product / service
  • Have market / customer validation
  • Prove growth / traction
