Applications are now open for the Virtual Africa Hackathon for solutions that address problems in emerging markets.
The hackathon, co-hosted by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), will take place virtually on August 31, 2020.

In 2019, the festival featured the President of Kenya and included talk and discussions on blockchain and crypto.
The Virtual Africa Hackathon 2020, themed “Harnessing Fintech in Addressing Covid-19 Effects on Healthcare, Digital Payments, and Economic Recovery,’ challenges fintechs to innovate and showcase their solutions aimed at addressing the negative impacts of Covid-19 globally.
Here are the qualifications for participants:
• Be of African nationality or for institutions, be incorporated in Africa
• Potential participants from all backgrounds, genders, and geographies within Africa are welcome
• There is no age restriction to participate attend the hackathon. In case you are under 18, your parents/legal guardian should contact the hackathon to request a waiver authorizing you to participate in the hackathon
• Organizers and partners, as well as their staff and associates, are not eligible to participate in the hackathon. They may, however, assist and mentor teams during the coding/development phase
