Africa’s Largest Payment Infrastructure, Flutterwave, Integrates with PayPal to Enable Merchant Payments

Just a few days after raising $170 million in Series C funding, FlutterWave, Africa’s largest payment infrastructure, has announced it has partnered with one of the world’s largest payments processor, PayPal.

This partnership now means that businesses across the African continent can now accept PayPal for payment for goods and services, easily and seamlessly, and get access to over 377 million PayPal users.

According to Flutterwave, merchants in the following countries can now easily accept payments from PayPal users worldwide via the platform:

  • Egypt
  • Kenya
  • Malawi
  • Mauritius
  • Morocco
  • Mozambique
  • Senegal
  • South Africa

To use PayPal on Flutterwave:

  • Open a Flutterwave account
  • Navigate to the Dashboard and enable PayPal as a payment method
  • PayPal will now be displayed as an option on the CheckOut

For customers, a ‘Pay with PayPal’ option will now be enabled on a Flutterwave merchant’s checkout page. Upon clicking, the customer will be redirected to their PayPal account to complete payment.

PayPal transaction fees are 4.4% of the transaction value including a +0.3$ per transaction.

Since inception, Flutterwave has processed:

  • Over 140 million transactions
  • Over $9 billion in volumes worldwide

With the total value of eCommerce in Africa expected to reach $29 billion by 2022 and provide many opportunities for SMEs and freelancers worldwide, FlutterWave is playing a huge role in enabling African businesses play on the world stage.

The company has helped enable crypto transactions by partnering with various crypto exchanges including Binance, until the recent crypto ban in Nigeria which required all deposit-taking firms from cutting ties with crypto exchange companies.

This collaboration further underscores FlutterWave’s commitment to ensuring merchants have vast opportunities to deliver services and conveniently transact through its platform.
