LocalBitcoins, the world’s oldest and largest peer-to-peer Bitcoin marketplace, has launched a new mobile app for Android and iOS users.
LocalBitcoins, which was founded in 2012, has been a pioneer in providing a platform for bitcoin trading in emerging markets. It currently has a large lead over up-and-coming competitors such as Paxful and Binance P2P in the peer-to-peer trading space in Latin America and Russia, for example.
In Russia, for example, traders swapped less than 5 BTC on Paxful in the second week of November 2021, whereas LocalBitcoins users traded more than 40 BTC in the same time period.
Thousands of LocalBitcoins customers have downloaded the app since it became available worldwide.
The app appears to offer the same functionality as the platform’s desktop version.
Key features on the LocalBitcoins app include:
Buy and sell Bitcoin everywhere in an easy, fast and secure way
Multi-launguage functionality with over 190 countries supported
multi-language user support
Zero fees for user-to-user transactions
Almost all global currencies supported
Over 100 different payment methods supported
Bitcoin wallet free of charge
High security along with biometric and two-factor authentication
Low fees: No deposit fees, no transaction fees between users. A 1% escrow fee from advertisers and a withdrawal fee always based on Bitcoin blockchain fees.
Fast and localized customer support: 24/7 customer support in 10+ languages
In a statement issued by Localbitcoins Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Jukka Blomberg, the company’s goal is to create inclusivity and accessibility by bringing bitcoin everywhere:
“We are continuously listening to the needs of our customers worldwide and constantly aiming to improve and evolve our service to fulfil those. Many of our customers had been hoping for a mobile app as an option and as a result, we developed one.” Jukka Blomberg.” – CMO, LocalBitcoins
