LAUNCH | Tether (USDT) Launches Educational Division to Focus on Africa and Other Emerging Markets

According to Tether CEO, some of the educational materials provided by Tether Edu might come with a fee. The initiative, still in its pre-launch phase, is actively recruiting human resources and financial executives.

Tether has announced an educational division aimed at offering courses, workshops, and additional resources to foster skill development in areas such as blockchain technology and other digital fields.

According to Tether, the new division will, in particular, target emerging markets in:

  • Africa
  • Latin America
  • The Middle East
  • Europe
  • The Commonwealth of Independent States, and
  • Asia

Alongside blockchain, its educational initiatives will cover a range of subjects, including design, artificial intelligence, and coding.

“Tether Edu represents a leap forward in our sustained commitment to drive digital education worldwide, with a particular emphasis on empowering emerging markets,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.

“We firmly believe that financial tools, exemplified by USDt, are not merely instruments for transactions but catalysts capable of rewriting economic history. Education stands as the cornerstone of this journey, serving as a linchpin for fostering economic prosperity and sustainable development.”

Ardoino, who assumed the role of CEO in December 2023 from being CTO, envisions Tether as a tech powerhouse poised to revolutionize the industry and serve as an infrastructure partner in the development of resilient cities and countries, company officials said at the time.

“I believe Tether is poised to continue its rapid growth, with a continued focus on emerging markets and transformative technology. I think I can speak for the entire company when I say that we eagerly anticipate Paolo’s leadership as he guides Tether toward a future where finance knows no bounds,” said former CEO Jean-Louis van der Velde.

The new division also will take on the role of overseeing the diverse global education programs sponsored by the company.

According to Ardoino, some of the educational materials provided by Tether Edu might come with a fee. The initiative, still in its pre-launch phase, is actively recruiting human resources and financial executives.

“Tether Edu is aiming to build a comprehensive and global edu-tech platform, focused on online learning across many different fields. From marketing to software development, from fashion to digital art, from mastering AI tools to social media, from SEO to video editing, from Maths to History, from Physics to learning foreign languages,” Ardoino said in his tweet.

The Tether Edu initiative follows yet another similar educational initiative by Trezor, the hardware crypto wallet company, that launched in December 2023 focussed on emerging markets of Africa. The Trezor Africa Academy is an educational program with a specific focus on disseminating knowledge about Bitcoin in Africa.
