Tectum is an innovative blockchain that employs the proprietary record change signature management algorithm.
Tectum claims to exceed 3.5 million transactions per second (TPS) making it one of the fastest blockchains in production. For comparison:
- Bitcoin can only process 7 TPS
- Ethereum manages 21 TPS, while
- Fantom is the nearest at 300k TPS
It also provides instant event status delivery and ownership updates across the blockchain network, along with distributed levels of access to functional system modules. The platform is great for all kinds of high-volume applications, in particular record-keeping for government agencies, universities and colleges, and other administration activities.
“Tectum’s unparalleled speed surpasses every other blockchain currently available, making it the perfect solution for high-volume & high-speed distributed ledger activities ranging from financial transaction processing to real-time digital record-keeping.”

Tectum’s unique Blockchain Design
Tectum has utilized a unique design that enables it to offer the best standards in both speed and security.
According to Tectum, instead of storing the data directly in the blockchain, its blockchain stores hashes that are mapped back to the original data stored at a lower level. This isolates the heavy transaction-related data from the main pipeline by hashing, encrypting, and signing the bundles at the end of every transaction and archiving it.
Therefore, the event-related data becomes instantly verifiable and publicly accessible, with different levels of accessibility provided to different transaction-related modules.
The multi-level design adopted really provides support for all kinds of hashing of data, which acording to the website is ultimately the key to the speed breakthroughs.
“Tectum’s high speed is what gives it an advantage, and this comes from having three levels of nodes in the blockchain. We have a master node that’s designed to carry all the heavy-weight data, then an upper level that conducts communication with hashes. So, it really is about hashing – Tectum hashes packets, it hashes blocks, it hashes just about everything and it keeps it on the upper level of the blockchain. That’s what makes it so remarkably fast.”

One of the conundrums in blockchain development is the ‘blockchain trilemma,’ which concerns the difficulty of optimizing security, scalability, and decentralization in permissionless blockchains. Scalability basically involves speed or throughput, usually measured in transactions per second (TPS).
Under the trilemma, any improvement in speed comes with a decrease in security and vice-versa. Thanks to the multi-layered design, Tectum is able to offer the highest transaction throughput of any blockchain in the world without any trade-off in security.
The blockchain also stands out for its security pedigree. Tectum is owned and run by Crispmind, the CyberSecurity company who were the creators of the first-ever quantum-proof 3 Factor Authentication and Grig messenger and many other B2B products.
CrispMind holds over 50 patents and other forms of intellectual property in information security, distributed ledger protocol, online messaging, and cryptocurrency.
While Tectum’s system as advertised achieves both security and speed, it does not store original data on the blockchain.
SoftNotes
One of the key innovations by Tectum team is SoftNotes, which they described as an alternative monetary system built on top of Tectum.
According to Tectum, SoftNotes are digital banknotes that represent ownership of Bitcoin wallets, leveraging the ultra-fast Tectum blockchain to address the scalability problem of Bitcoin. It makes it possible for Bitcoin to be transferred instantly, anywhere, without fees or delays.
Unlike Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions say Lightning, SoftNotes does not batch transactions instead ‘replace it with an approach involving transfer of ownership of Bitcoin wallets.’ A SoftNote is essentially a bearer instrument representing ownership of a Bitcoin wallet address, or some amount of BTC liquidity sitting within a wallet address.
A SoftNote can be handed over using different methods ranging from a QR code, email, text message, or even physically printed on paper. When the handover of a SoftNote occurs the new recipient receives a new pin that is automatically generated and is known only to them.
The SoftNotes can be acquired from an app that anyone can download. Alternatively, holders of the blockchain’s flagship token TET can mint SoftNotes.
SoftNotes are presented as transactionless, and according to Tectum, offer competition to cross-border monetary transfers systems such as Lightning, SWIFT, and the Ripple Network.
