Singapore has once again emerged as the most powerful passport in the world with visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations worldwide, says the 2025 Henley Passport Index.
The index ranks all the world’s 199 passports according to the number of destinations they can access visa-free, and is based on exclusive Timatic data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Below are the top 10 most powerful passports in the world alongside their score, which is the number of visa-free access destinations:
- Singapore (195)
- Japan (193)
- France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, South Korea (192)
- Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden (191)
- Belgium, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland, and the UK (190)
- Australia (189)
- Canada (188)
- US (186)
- UAE (185)
Over the past decade, the UAE has made remarkable progress on the index, gaining access to 72 additional destinations since 2015. This achievement has propelled the country 32 places up the rankings to secure 10th position, with visa-free access to 185 destinations globally.
China is also among the biggest climbers over the past decade, ascending from 94th place in 2015 to 60th in 2025, with its visa-free score increasing by 40 destinations in that time. It is also more open to the rest of the world steadily increasing the number of nationalities they permit entry to without a prior visa.
“China granted visa-free access to a further 29 countries over the past year alone, and now sits in 80th position, granting visa-free entry to a total of 58 nations as the new year commences, compared to its rival America, which ranks 84th and allows just 46 other countries access without a prior visa,” the report said.
Seychelles, which was announced by Henley as the country with most Bitcoin millionaires in Africa, is the highest-ranked African country on the passport-power list at position 25, with access to 156 visa-free destinations. Alongside Mauritius and South Africa, these countries play in their own league compared to the rest of the continent.
