After months of waiting and anticipation, Binance Uganda, the first fiat-crypto Binance franchise in the world, has gone live.
In a statement, Binance announced:
“We are delighted to announce the official launch of Binance Uganda Exchange.”
Users will now be able to signup and make deposits in the exchange. The exchange will open on October 17th, 2018 and will allow deposits for Ugandan Shillings (UGX), BTC, and Ether.
“Trading on Binance Uganda will open soon with BTC/UGX and ETH/UGX trading pairs,” Binance said. “The start time for trading will be released in a later announcement.”
The announcement of setting up Binance Uganda was made by Binance CEO and founder, ChangPeng Zhao, back in May 2018 while attending the Africa Blockchain Conference in Kampala Uganda.
Responding to a question from BitcoinKE, ChangPeng Zhao mentioned the company is looking to expand across Africa, including Kenya, and the Binance Uganda branch is just a starting point.
