Blockchain is the Top Skill Companies Need Most in 2020, According to Latest LinkedIn Learning Study

Blockchain is the most in-demand hard skill that companies will be looking for in 2020, according to the latest study by LinkedIn Learning, the educational subsidiary of the social network, LinkedIn.

This is the first time that Blockchain has topped the list. In fact, the “The Skills Companies Need Most in 2019 – And How to Learn Them’ did not include blockchain technology at all.

The new study lists hard skills companies need most in 2020 in order of importance as follows:

Cloud Computing
Analytical Reasoning
Artificial Intelligence
UX Design
Business Analytics
Affiliate Marketing
Sales
Scientific Computing
Video Production

As opposed to soft skills, hard skills refer to an employee’s ability to do specific taks and usually includes specialized knowledge and technical abilities.

According to LinkedIn:

“While the most in-demand soft skills are all about how we work together, the most in-demand hard skills are the ones changing what we’re working on. Many o these skills will continue to evolve rapidly.

For example, for the first time this year, blockchain not only make the list of top skills, but topped it – highlighting an increasing awareness and demand for the wider applications of this skill.”

High-profile global firms such as Amazon, IBM, JPMorgan, Microsoft, and Oracle are actively implementing blockchain technology. LinkedIn advises global recruiters to start becoming more aware of the technology and familiarizing themselves with how blockchain works, its perceived benefits, and who are the people best suited to help the company explore where this budding technology might have a role.
