Binance, the leading crypto exchange and blockchain ecosystem, is hosting a DeFi and NFT hackathon for the African blockchain community from June 7 – June 28, 2021.
The 20-day hackathon is co-hosted by Bundle, a social payments app for crypto and seeks to empower blockchain engineers on the continent to rapidly build blockchain solutions on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) that solve real world problems in Africa.

Themed ‘Decentralized Africa,‘ the hackathon will include:
- Workshops
- AMA sessions
- Webinars
- Daily lucky draws
and will conclude with a demo-day showcase.
There will also be a $30, 000 prize pool provided by the BSC investment team, sponsors and the general community.
There will also be a limited edition NFTs and Binance Swag for participants during the 20-day period.
The hackathon will consist of team leaders from the hackathon sponsors that includes:
- Bundle Africa
- Mobox
- Refinable
- Quidax
- ForTube
- 1inch
among others.
The hackathon is open to all developers, builders and creators from across the African continent including both beginners and non-beginners.
According to Binance:
“All DeFi and NFT projects will be built on the Binance Smart Chain and made completely open source. Participants will build cool solutions that will potentially solve some of the real problems facing Africa.
Some examples of areas to cover include:

- Swaps
- Royalties and Renting
- Elections
- Identity Management
- Land Ownership
- NFTs marketplaces
amongst other relevant areas.”
