In a quest to onboard more students onto Web3, and specifically, train them on how to build solutions on blockchain, Celo organized an orientation session for students in one of the leading universities in Kenya.
Celo, a mobile-first blockchain with smart contracts capability, enables developers to build mobile-friendly solutions on the blockchain with minimal fees.
The event was attended by over 80 students with 12 attendees being female students.

Here is a recap of the successful event, in pictures, which signals the growing interest in Web3 in Kenya and the region.
The students got a deep introduction into Web3 and the Celo ecosystem.
A discussion on decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) also ensued with a focus on the Kukuza XAO and what it purports to solve.
Students were also shown how to buld a decentralized application (dApp) on Celo with a demo on how to connect the Valora wallet with Kotani Pay.
Attendees also got to enjoy a blockchain trivia followed by a pictorial game
