Speaking about this milestone, Marius Retz, GM, Luno Africa, said:
“Within five years of launching the business, Luno had built a one million customer base in November 2017.
Less than a year later, we had five million. The speed at which we are reaching new milestones is remarkable – it has taken just nine months to add three million more wallets.”
– General Manager, Luno, Africa
About 30% of the entire Luno customer base is in South Africa with over 300, 000 new wallets in the last 3 months being from South African users.
Luno was among the first exchanges to enable both South Africans and Nigerians to buy crypto with their local currency with Africa being one, if not, the most promising regions when it comes to crypto adoption.
