Binance, the largest crypto exchange by volume globally, has added MPESA as a payment option onto its Binance P2P platform.
BitcoinKE has learned that the option is still being tested and is not yet available to all users and only a few verified users can access the MPESA payment option.
For the last couple of weeks, BitcoinKE has learned that Binance is preparing to launch its P2P platform in Kenya soon and this could just be a sign that the platform is almost ready for launch. The platform is also expected to be more affordable compared to Paxful, the most popular P2P exchange in Africa.
To use the MPESA payment option on Binance P2P, here is the process:
- Open Binance mobile app
- Navigate to ‘P2P’ tab
- Click on the ‘Filter’ icon
- Select Payment > All
- Select ‘M-PESA Kenya (Safaricom)’ from the list
By the look of things, there is a high possibility the platform might be ready for launch as early as next week, and the addition of the MPESA option adds to the possibility of this happening soon.
Currently, you can only purchase bitcoin and crypto on Binance P2P in Kenya via a bank transfer. The addition of MPESA will likely attract more users onto the platform and grow the number of traders which currently does not seem to have a substantial trading community.
