Bitcoin is the Fastest Asset in History to Reach $1 Trillion Market Cap

Bitcoin, which crossed the $1 trillion market cap in 2021, is now the fastest asset in history to reach a $1 trillion valuation.

While companies take decades to gain such valuations, bitcoin took just 12 years to reach this monumental milestone.

To put things in perspective, here is a breakdown of how long it took the largest companies globally to hit the $1 trillion market cap valuation:

  • Microsoft – 44 years
  • Apple – 42 years
  • Amazon – 24 years
  • Google – 21 years
  • Bitcoin – 12 years

At the start of 2021, bitcoin had a modest market cap of only $500 billion and has more than doubled in Q1, 2021 alone to the current $1.2 trillion.

  • Institutional investment into bitcoin
  • Bitcoin ETFs ready to go
  • High profile CEOs show interest in bitcoin

As of April 2021, the total crypto market cap crossed the $2 trillion mark as related market verticals like DeFi and NFTs continue to further drive adoption and use cases of crypto.

The new milestone now puts the total market cap of the crypto industry ($2.23T) to almost the same valuation as Apple ($2.25T), the second-largest company in the world after Saudi Aramco, the oil giant.
