97% of Kenyan Online Users are On WhatsApp as Ajua API Now Becomes Available for Businesses

WhatsApp Payments will be coming to several other countries later in 2019 after successful testing in India

Ajua, a Kenyan business solutions provider, has entered into a business partnership with Facebook, that will let their Janja API to be available for use on Whatsapp.

An API (application programming interface) is a software application that lets software programs communicate with each other.

Through an integration with Whatsapp Business, the Janja API will let merchants have a more seamless relationship with their customers, on a popular platform.

Ajua’s Janja API automates customer support, borderless banking, and payments across apps and social media platforms.

Whatsapp is the most popular messaging application in Africa, with over 100 million users. In Kenya, it is reported that 97% of users are on Whatsapp making it a preferred mode of comunication for people and businesses in Africa.

In addition to Janja, Ajua has 5 products, targeting small businesses across Kenya and Nigeria.

  • Ajua Merchant – Helps Micro and Medium Sized Businesses (MSMEs)

In 2020, Facebook announced that users will soon be able to make purchases right from WhatsApp. The company said it is already testing the WhatsApp Pay feature that will be made available to all users soon.

Ajua is one of only 2 companies in Africa that have directly partnered and integrated with Facebook.
