Crypto Valley Venture Capital (CV VC), a Swiss investment company, has set up its first African office in Cape Town, South Africa, to invest in blockchain-focused startups across Africa.
In a press release shared with BitKE, the CV VC is looking to invest in 100 startups over the next 4 years that have the potential to tackle challenges on the African continent.

CV is looking to work together with partners from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and local stakeholders to initially support the development of an independent ecoystem in South Africa by transferring experience and know-how from the Swiss Crypto Valley to serve as a hub for Africa.
Speaking about its new chapter in Africa, Mathias Ruch, Founder / CEO, CV VC, said:

With the experience and know-how from Crypto Valley, including infrastructure providers, an enabling regulatory framework and our global network, we will be able to accelerate growth for blockchain startups and grow the blockchain ecosystem in all of Africa.”

CV VC has so far invested in 27 blockchain startups from Switzerland, Europe, the Americas with 4 of these being form Africa.
Some of these startups include:
- Math for Money – Teaching children basic math and introducing positive financial behavior from a young age
- Xion – A platform that caters to merchants by helping them manage customers, subscriptions, and sales, with minimal effort to sign up and use only two code lines
- WildCards – An NFT marketplace allowing individuals to transparently and easily ‘adopt’ an endangered animal and contribute to sustainability through a fun and engaging platform
- Proof of Impact – A data intelligence platform that makes impact data accessible to maximize return on investment
CV VC is inviting African-based blockchain startups to apply for its incubation program with selected startups receiving up to $125, 000 in investment money and an opportunity to be part of the global CV Labs incubation program in Zug, Switzerland.
