While launching the Binance Africa Developer Course, the CEO of Binance, ChangPeng Zhao (CZ), has announced that the company will be allocating $1 million to African developers building projects on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
The 8-week masterclass is meant to equip African developers with the needed skills to build and launch projects on the BSC blockchain protocol.
The course is being offered by Binance for free.

There will also be an African hackathon at the end of the 8-week course where some of the African projects will be declared winners and possibly get funded to build and run on BSC.
While Binance has committed to training only 1, 000 African developers, over 18, 000 applied for the course showing the demand and the eargerness for blockchain development education on the continent.
Speaking about the masterclass, CZ said:
“Africa is a really important segment in our mission and we are very committed to pushing such programs in Africa and other regions. ” ~ CZ
The Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is:
- A 100% Ethereum compatible protocol, which means you can leverage all the Ethereum tools and dApps and Smart Contracts functionalities
- A Proof-of-Stake decentralized protocol with stake-based consensus that includes community involvement
- A faster and cheaper transactions protocol that dramatically reduces transaction fees and operational costs compared to Ethereum
The protocol also allows you to convert supported coins into wrapped tokens and use them on BSC with cross-chain interoperability.
