Uganda has been developing its 4IR National Strategy for sometime now and will be hosting a validation workshop for the public to hear and input on the plans.
The Ministry of ICT, Uganda, invites all stakeholders to come and contribute to the discussion which will take place as below:
- TOPIC: 4IR National Strategy Stakeholders Validation Workshop
- DATE: October 26, 2020
- TIME: 10:00AM, EAT
- REGISTRATION LINK: http://bit.ly/4IR-Uganda
Stakeholder workshops offer the public an opportunity to submit their opinions and suggestions especially around emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, and Internet of Things (IoT).
These workshops also precede the creation of working groups that are key to the creation and development of adoption strategies and relevant regulations.
The stakeholder meeting is expected to attract key blockchain and tech players in the Ugandan and African space who are expected to help shape the direction of regulation and adoption in Uganda on these emerging technologies.
These workshops also provide a glimpse into the direction of regulation and how we can expect the government to regulate such emerging technologies based on proposed recommendations from such discussions.
African countries that have previously had such discussions and workshops which culminated in draft regulations or in the process of getting ratified include:
- Kenya – Kenya Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Taskforce
- Nigeria – Nigeria National Blockchain Adoption Strategy
- South Africa – Intergovernmental Fintech Working Group
