After 2 (two) months of the inaugural Celo Bootcamp with 251 teams from 60 countries participating, Kenya’s PesaBase, has emerged the winner of the first edition of the Celo BootCamp.
Celo, a mobile-first blockchain designed for emerging markets with the vision of prosperity for all.
The winning team, PesaBase (Kesho Labs), won $10, 000 while the first runners-up, MugglePay, took home $5, 000.
Another Kenyan team, Kotani Labs, came third, bringing two Kenyan teams among the top 3 winners.
Another seven teams won the Tenet Awards of $2, 000 which were awarded to projects that embody Celo’s community tenets of designing for all, striving for beauty, and innovating on money.
Participating teams were required to design solutions for emerging markets on top of the Celo blockchain, demo live, and commit transactions on top of the blockchain in front of a live audience.
The top 10 winning teams are:
- Pesabase – A financial platform that provides African’s with a cheap and social option to remit and pay for goods and services
- MugglePay – An app that helps merchants accept Celo and cUSD easily and safely and users can shop with Celo in over 2400 merchants integrated with MugglePay SDK
