The two-day event is expected to bring together developers, stakeholders, enthusiasts, and students to harness innovation, blockchain literacy, skills development and inclusion.
According to Adeolu Fadele, President, BIAN:
“Even though there is evidence of improved public understanding, increasing mainstream interest, and the emergence of startups that are building practical solutions using the blockchain technology in Nigeria today, all these cannot be considered to be true development until the learning institutions are carried along in structured and sustainable manner.”
The enthusiasm and participation of students across the 6 universities is seen as a good demonstration of a changing culture among Nigeria students that goes beyond obtaining a degree and getting a job. Rather, they are beginning to think outside the box and see real value in emerging technologies like blockchain.
Blockchain Industry Association of Nigeria (BIAN) is the new brand of CDIN created to take further the success that has been achieved through the Nigeria Blockchain Alliance Initiative. The objective of BIAN is to stimulate the growth of a sustainable Blockchain Industry in Nigeria and Africa.
